Happy "I got through Father's Day" Day!

At times I can be accused of trying to see too much silver lining. Actually, I accuse myself of that. Maybe the hunt for positive thinking has been a way to stay far away from grief. I'm sure it's not completely healthy but it works for me and has kept me from sulking in a dark space for too long. Yesterday was Father's day. I celebrated and tried to encourage celebration. But if I listened, my self talk probably would have sounded more like this:

Father's Day Sucks!
I'm dreading this weekend.
I'll never make it through this day.
Seeing my kids hurt, hurt me too much.
He should be here with them!
He should be here with me!
I might just cry all day.
I DON'T WANT to celebrate.
I don't have the strength.

That was a tough day but I made it.

Proof I am stronger than I ever thought possible. That's what I'm learning and it's worth celebrating.
